Weldable Webbing...
Adds strength and structure.
Improves reliability of grommets.

Eliminate the biggest cause of grommet failure:
material stretch under tension and jerking.

This giant banner has been installed opposite the TD BankNorth Garden in Boston for over two years. It is bolted into the brick wall with concrete anchors and washers through a frame of PVC-Coated Weldable Webbing. (It may have brought good fortune for the '08 Celtics as they attempt to regain their dynasty status.)

Build a Better Banner!

Especially with wide-format printing, the new generation of large banners and vinyl signs
are beautiful, impressive, entertaining, and powerful tools of communication...

Be sure that you can install the banners you print with complete confidence.
Weldable webbing lets you strengthen your vinyl fabric creations where needed. Construction Applications:
-

Trim to Edge: adds a frame of reinforced edge structure and grommet reinforcement. Many times stronger than simply folding over the thin banner fabric.

Pocket Seam Reinforcement: Apply webbing over the seam where webbing is folded onto itself for a stronger pocket. Apply a length of webbing at ends of pockets.

Radiated Grommet Reinforcements: weld short lengths of webbing over edge webbing to take up additional load at corners and other grommet points.

Structural Members: At seams or simply across the span of a heavy or highly stressed sign or banner, weld material the full length of the fabric and insert grommets into the webbing ends. The load on the sign is thus born entirely by the webbing.

* PVC coated weldable webbing performs equally well with high frequency, hot-air, and wedge welding. We will be happy to refer inquiries to manufacturers of equipment of various welding methods if you desire more information. Note that for smaller banners and signs you can also install the lighter weights of this webbing with an appropriate vinyl cement. Please call or email Jim Logan at 800-225-3577 with technical questions.

Click for a short ".mpeg" video of webbing being welded onto a banner using a small shop welder to quickly finish three sides of a mesh banner.

What you will see is: first, a pole pocket fold and then three sides getting webbing. Note that at one point, the webbing gets off line along the edge so the operators remove it, flip it over, and apply it again. The key technique to note here is how the operators first anchor a short tail of webbing and then run the welder away from the anchor point.

(Note:
This is a six-minute video and takes a long time to download -- be patient.
There is no narration, just machine noise, so turn your sound down.
There are several technical "tricks of the trade" to be observed here; if you'd like, watch the video and then call Jim Logan at Louis Green Corp at 800-225-3577 to discuss the techniques shown.)
